OK I found it. It was 2003 when the Generals beat Firestone, Stow, Green , and Hudson inthe sectioal/district, then lost in the regional semifinal to Cleve. Hts. who won the Regional but lost to Moeller in the state semis. Moeller won that year. I didn't recall seeing the regional on any banner at the gym.

To those going to the fieldhouse tonight, beware, the weather outside has been unseasonably warm, which means it will be really warm inside the fieldhouse. We went over for last nights DIV doubleheader and it was very hot in that place, the warmest I can remember for regional game. So dress lightly, shotsleeves probably.

Does anyone know - are we able to get in to watch the first game tonight, and stay until Orrville plays? Or do they make the second game fans wait outside until before game time?

CC..in years past they have let folks in early. I think its safe to assume that Chanel's crowd will be smaller than the other three teams playing...should be plenty of room.

You can watch both games on your 1 ticket, but it will be hot inside, just like last night.

Shot poorly and too many turnovers...and still have a chance to win.

I think Chanel will be too much for Berkshire's guards. Chanel by 20

Great unexpected run this season. We were right there until the end and yes way to many turnovers, especially in the closing minutes when we were outscored 6-0 . Ball just didn't seem to want to bounce in on some shots, some shots shouldn't have been taken and some passes not made.

Congrats team on being only 1 of 12 teams to go this far in 90 years of Orrville basketball. Congrats Coach Slaughter on leading this team to a historic 3 straight regional appearance and putting the young men in a position to win even in the last game of the season. Great job Coach Slaughter. This season pushes Orrville's all-time win total up to 1084 wins, which should place us somewhere in about the top 30 to 35 teams in alltime wins.

    ^^^ Well said riders1.

I don't know if I would call our tourney run "unexpected". I expect a run like this every year and I think most Orrville fans would agree, but with those expectations is just added pressure for these kids to succeed. But thats what Orrville sports are all about.

Players, coaches, and fans EXPECT nothing less than a winning program and a successful tournement run!

Also, lets not kid ourselves...playing in the Wooster District has made life easier in the tournement as well!

Not saying it’s a game changer but when Drew had the ball in the air, going out of bounds it looked like he called time out, in time, but I could not see from where I was at, was his foot out or did the ref’s just miss the call.

Just saying that in December, looking at what this team lacked, consistent guard playmakers and outside shooting, nobody could see another 7-13 team going to regionals.
That is what hurt us in most games and really hurt us last night. This was definitely not the top 12 talented team in Orrville history, but it was good to see this run through 3 of the 4 top seeds in district along the way. Time to reload, and being DIII and in this district has really been a help as we should continue to win sectionals and who knows what will happen in districts as it appears there are still alot of teams that don't want to jump into our side of the bracket, no matter what our record. Get your kids working on their outside shots

Thought Rider fans might like this...the all-time leading scorers in Wayne/Holmes Co. Boys Basketball history.

    https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9b...YXdOWEN2STdIdw

This was compiled using the Daily Record's published list from Feb. 2011...adding in the final points tallied by Zach Wasson & Brennan McKean and also adding Hiland's Kauffman & Bonifant upon the completion of their great careers.

West Holmes may be the only school record in jeopardy the next couple years with Brady Arnold having a chance. Anyone know his total after 2 years?

Top scorers in the state only lists those over 2,000 points and there are 43 players at 2,001 or more, so I would guess the areas top, Ryan Berg at 1,945 might be in the top 50 in the state.

    Nice work RR1. Pretty cool.

Kenny Kornowski: Smithville: 1,215 career points.
Alex Bates: After 3 years: 756 career points, 10th in school history.

To Break Record (22 Game Season Next Year, barring health)
    20.9 PPG over 22 Games
19.96 PPG over 23 Games (Guaranteed Playoff Game)
19.13 PPG over 24 Games (1 Playoff Win)
18.4 PPG over 25 Games (2 Playoff Wins)
17.7 PPG over 26 Games (3 Playoff Wins)

It will be tough but if he remains healthy he undoubtedly will at least move into the top 3 with big-men Kenny Kornowski (2009) and Roger Ramseyer (1955).
Alex also has an outside shot at the career assist record of 378, as he currently sits in 3rd place in school history.

As far as Brady Arnold is concerned,
I have Brady at 718 points after his Soph. season.
Just from the 46 guaranteed games left Brady's last 2 seasons (barring heath), he needs to average 10.6 PPG over that time to break the record. If he is healthy it's safe to assume that he gets the record.

Something to watch for. Sharp-shooter Danny Peters has Wooster's all-time record with 1369 points. Freshman big-man and superb all-around athlete Cam Daugherty scored nearly 11 PPG this year to end with 234 points. If Cam were to put up the following numbers the rest of his career, he would break Danny's record and become the General's scoring leader.

SOPH: 13 PPG (1 Tournament Win, 24 Games)
JUNIOR: 16.5 PPG (1 Tournament Win, 24 Games)
Senior: 18 PPG (1 Tournament Win, 24 Games)

Those numbers, barring good health, would equal 1,374 points. However, I also see Wooster winning more than 1 playoff game over those 3 seasons, and Cam could score more than 17-18 PPG his final two seasons if he keeps progressing and Wooster makes an effort to get him the ball down low.

You mentioned Roger Ramseyer ....... He's a BRF favorite guy! Great author, too.

Mr russel...nice breakdown. Interesting thing about teams moving to 22 games. Over a 4 year career, that will be an extra 8 games and possibly 100-200 points for a career. It's not a lot but could impact scoring lists over time.

Look at guys like Kauffman & Denson, both had roughly the equivalent of a 5th season in tourney games over their 4 years..and their standings on the all-time lists were obviously impacted by their successes in the tournament.

    * So do we need to use one of these beside any scoring record from here on out?

If & when we get someone that approaches 1500 career points, we'll worry about it then.

    Might be a while.

No more than the distinction from before and after the 20 games season started and the 3 point shots started.
